2010 Entry-Level Job Opportunities May Be Brighter than Expected: CollegeGrad.com Releases Its Annual List of Top Entry-Level Employers
Foster City, CA (PRWEB) June 14, 2010 - As recent college graduates enter the workforce, CollegeGrad.com, the #1 Entry-Level Job Site on the Web, announces its list of Top Entry-Level Employers for 2010. Despite a challenging job market, the survey shows that for many top employers, the number of projected entry-level hires for 2010 continues to be strong.
Class of 2010 graduates are facing a more challenging job market than previous graduates did, but the hiring landscape might be a lot brighter than expected. As this year's list of Top Entry-Level Employers is released, results are encouraging. Eight of the top ten entry-level employers have either maintained or increased their projected number of entry-level hires compared to 2009.
Verizon Wireless remains at the top of the list with 10,500 entry level jobs planned for this year, followed closely by Enterprise Rent-A-Car, with 8,000 new hires projected in 2010. Teach for America and Peace Corps registered some of the highest 2010 entry-level hire projections this year, bringing the non-profit sector into the spotlight of top employers for 2010.
"This generation of graduates knows it's possible to make an immediate and significant impact on our nation's most pressing issues," said Elissa Clapp, Senior Vice President of Recruitment for Teach For America. "The record number who joined Teach For America this year will channel their energy and leadership to expand opportunities for kids in some of our country's most challenged schools, where there remains a need for additional excellent teachers."
The top ten companies for entry-level hiring represented a diverse range of industries, from education to energy to retail. While the job market facing 2010 grads may require more focused job hunting than in the past, the range of employers reporting strong hiring projections suggests recent graduates across majors should see increasing job opportunities.
"At KPMG, hiring and retaining high caliber people committed to serving our clients and communities is a strategic imperative," said Stacy M. Sturgeon of KPMG. "We strive to attract exceptional student leaders and to welcome them into our "Employer of Choice" environment--an environment that supports work/life balance, encourages diversity, and emphasizes mentoring and career development."
Top employers are taking advantage of the entry-level talent that is competing for employment. Recent grads represent a valuable opportunity for companies to recruit and train employees who would adopt their company culture. The innovation and fresh ideas that entry-level employees offer are equally desirable.
"Target continues to look for talented and innovative team members to support our strategic initiatives," said Tim Curoe, Vice President of Talent Acquisition at Target. "Every team member--from their first day with Target--is empowered and encouraged to innovate, contribute ideas, and discover solutions. We look for college graduates who can collaboratively lead teams and deliver results in our fast-paced, performance-driven Target culture."
