Using a Resume Service

As you venture out into the great unknown of preparing your resume, be aware that there are a variety of resume services out there who will try to convince you to turn over the entire process to them. They will offer to do everything from writing your resume and cover letter to generating a mass mailing, including digitizing your signature at the bottom of the cover letter and mailing out a couple hundred resumes for you. A note of caution: the great majority (95+%) of resume services will do nothing more than take your data and crunch it into their cookie cutter format, then try to sell you on their fancy paper and a variety of worthless additional services. If you have solid writing skills, you are much better served in writing your own resume by following the sample format at this site.

If you follow the standard format of our Quickstart Resume Templates you will end up with a far better than resume than one cranked out by a resume mill. Save your money.
