The Video Teleconferencing Interview Technique![]()
With the recent advances in technology, you now have another option for the cross-country interviews. Most Kinko's stores now have a video teleconferencing center available for reservation and use. If you are here and they are there, this is your quickest way of making direct "face-to-face" contact.
We recently interviewed an entry level candidate who was located in Louisiana using this method. We simply went down the street to Kinko's and met her via video teleconferencing. While it is expensive, we went through an initial hour interview for $150 and both sides had the visual image that the two hours of previous phone calls could not provide.
So if you are unable to get a company to move forward in the interviewing process and they are unwilling or unable to fly you in from a distant location, offer the video teleconferencing option. It may be the needed final step to give both sides comfort in making the next level commitment: either bringing you in for the face-to-face interview, or possibly even an immediate offer.
