Forum - Ask the Hiring Manager

QUESTION:

I am trying hard but the big question is - How do you get past Human Resources to obtain information about the company you are interested in working with?

My problem is how do you network when you have no one to network in these large companies. And also, how do you obtain information on small companies - the ones who are hiring most of the recent graduates. AND obtaining an information interview is near impossible.

From: Christine Theodore, Recent Graduate, Morovian College

ANSWER FROM BRIAN KRUEGER:

Hi Christine -

Please read the following chapters from my book -

My entire book is now online at this site and will have many, if not most, of the answers you are seeking.

The quick answer is that you do NOT need to have an internal contact to get past HR. Just ask the right people the right questions and you will get through. My book has several ready-made scripts for you to follow, even in getting past Frauline Frieda, Guardian of the Gate (who is trained to screen you out).
