I am a recent graduate with a M.S. degree. I recently applied
for a position which I was extremely interested in. Much to my dismay, I noticed a typo in my cover letter after I had already sent it. The ad requested no phone calls. It has been over a month since I applied and I
have seen the position advertised again recently. I am almost tempted to resubmit a new application. What would you recommend?
Thank you for your time.

ANSWER FROM BRIAN KRUEGER:
Hi Dianne -
Always, always, always make sure you contact by phone, whether the ad said to or not. If you wait for the phone to ring, your odds decrease considerably.
With regard
to the typo, it's unlikely anybody noticed it (or even that they read your cover letter), but it does provide you a good opportunity to make contact. Explain the typo and offer to bring a fresh copy when you get
together for your initial interview. Give a selection of days you would be available and do your best to set up that first interview.
You need to take responsibility for moving the process forward--don't wait for
others to do it for you.
