QUESTION:

How can I get access to the newsgroup misc.jobs.resumes?

ANSWER FROM BRIAN KRUEGER:

If you have a Netscape or Microsoft IE browser (or any other browser with an integrated news reader), just enter... news:misc.jobs.resumes

...on the URL line. If not, use your Usenet Newsgroup software to download/access the newsgroup information. Once you have access to the information, you need to use the "Post" function to place your resume in the newsgroup. Use a descriptive subject line, and DON'T use the words "entry level" in your subject line. Post your resume in ASCII (text) format, keeping in mind that most newsreaders will format in fixed spacing (courier font), so adjust your margins and headers accordingly.

Finally, don't just post and cross your fingers. You are much better off being proactive and targeted in your job search. Find the companies and job openings, then use some of the multi-pronged approaches I outline in my book.
