My apologies to the gamblers in my reading audience, but in this particular case we are talking about the interviewing lottery that takes place at many college campuses throughout the country. As the number of companies coming to campuses stagnates or declines, the demand for available interview slots increases so much that demand often far outpaces supply. Many colleges have answered this demand/supply problem with some form of lottery (or bid) system.
