If you have a strong voice and would like to make a unique impact on a company, send a CD recording along with your resume. On this CD, take no more than five to ten minutes to explain why you are the best person for the job. Most Hiring Managers have a commute and a car and a CD player (or have access to one).

If you send me a CD, I will pop it into the player in my car on my way home that evening. And if you do a credible job, I may just call you on my cellular phone with the CD running in the background.

Make sure you stick to a tight structure and script the dialogue only as much as you need to stay focused. This is not an opportunity for you to tell your life story. It is, like your resume, an opportunity to entice me into a potential interview. Keep it short and sweet and tell me what you want me to do as the next step.
