The Last Listed Technique
_

If there are two or more contact names in the ad to choose from, always choose the last person as your choice for responding. We are creatures of habit, and we almost always choose the first name listed. While the first name listed may be inundated with e-mail, mail, and phone calls, second or third listed persons usually get few if any calls. So why do companies list more than one person? Vanity. There are two (or three or four) persons in the department and they all want their name in the ad. But usually only the first one is contacted. So if you choose the last name listed, you will be reaching a far more receptive in-box and telephone than the one listed first.
